PFO (Strengthening the role of young men and women in peacebuilding )

The Peace and Freedom Organization organizes a discussion session to enhance the participation of young men and women in the field of peace and security.

The Peace and Freedom Organization, in partnership with the Cordِaid Iraq Organization, held a discussion session on November 10, 2023, between the Aswat Shabat team that was established within the Women’s Voices First project and the 2250 Network that was established by the Peace and Freedom Organization.

This session comes as a joint effort to enhance the role of young women and young men in the field of peace and security and to achieve 1325 and 2250 Agenda.

Ideas and experiences were exchanged and the importance of the role of young men and young women in building peace and enhancing security in societies was highlighted. It was agreed to merge the two networks and work together under the name (Network of Young women and young men , Peace and Security – Network 2250).

The selection of the new board of directors for the network, where from seven members of the board, 4 young women were elected, in addition to the adoption of the joint presidency, that is, the election of a male president and a female president for the network.

This is the first achievement for the Iraqi civil networks. The bylaws were amended and the decision on the work plan for the year 2024 for the network at the Iraq level.
